Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what data Podroma collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. Podroma is a service offered by Geni360 LLC, a California limited liability company (“Geni360”, “we”, “us”). Questions? Email insights@podroma.com.
What we collect
1. Account info (only if you sign in)
When you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID, and profile picture. We use this to create your Podroma account, send you email notifications, and personalize your library.
2. Content you create
- Podcast URLs you analyze and the resulting insights are stored in our database.
- Episode transcripts are fetched from YouTube (via Supadata) and cached so we can answer your chat questions without re-fetching.
- Chat messages you send about a podcast are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic). We don’t persist chat history server-side — it lives only in your browser session.
- Subscriptions — the YouTube channels you subscribe to for email notifications.
3. Usage analytics
We use PostHog (a product-analytics tool) to understand how Podroma is used. This includes pages you visit, buttons you click, time spent on pages, browser/device type, country (from IP), and a randomly generated anonymous identifier stored in your browser. If you sign in, your activity is linked to your Google email so we can measure repeat usage. We don’t sell this data to anyone.
4. Email engagement
When we send you an episode insights email, we include a tiny 1×1 transparent tracking pixel that lets us know if the email was opened. Links in our emails contain UTM tags so we can see which emails drove a visit to podroma.com. We use this to measure email effectiveness, not to track you personally.
5. Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, response code). These are used for debugging and abuse prevention. They’re retained for roughly 30 days.
Why we collect this data
- To operate the service (analyze podcasts, answer chat questions)
- To send email notifications you’ve opted into
- To understand and improve product usage
- To prevent abuse and debug problems
Who we share it with
We share specific pieces of your data with the following service providers as needed to operate Podroma. Each is bound by their own privacy policy:
- Anthropic — receives transcripts and chat messages to generate insights and chat answers. Anthropic does not train models on this data per their commercial terms.
- Google — handles OAuth sign-in and hosts our insights@podroma.com inbox.
- Resend — delivers our outbound emails. Sees your email address, the message body, and engagement metadata.
- Vercel — hosts the website and runs the server functions that handle requests.
- Neon — hosts our PostgreSQL database (account info, library items).
- PostHog — receives product-analytics events (page views, clicks, email opens).
- Supadata — fetches YouTube transcripts on our behalf.
We don’t sell your personal information to anyone. We don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect against fraud or abuse.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Authentication cookies — set by NextAuth after you sign in, so you stay signed in across page loads.
- Analytics identifier — PostHog stores a randomly-generated ID in your browser’s localStorage to measure unique visitors.
- Email tracking pixel — described above under Email engagement.
Podroma doesn’t use third-party advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; signing in won’t work without auth cookies.
Data retention
- Account data and library items — kept until you delete your account.
- Analytics data — retained per PostHog’s plan-based policy (currently up to 7 years).
- Server logs — ~30 days.
Your rights
You can request the following at any time by emailing insights@podroma.com:
- Access — a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Deletion — full removal of your account and associated library data.
- Correction — fix data that’s inaccurate.
- Opt-out of analytics — we’ll exclude your activity from PostHog tracking on request.
You can also unsubscribe from any insights email using the one-click link at the bottom of the message.
Children
Podroma is not directed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
International transfers
Podroma is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data — HTTPS everywhere, encrypted database connections, OAuth-based authentication, secrets stored as encrypted environment variables. No system is perfectly secure; we can’t guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced on the homepage or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
